Here’s what to expect.

1. Unscripted and unposed is where it’s at for me.

I always tell my couples that 80% of their wedding day I’ll just be watching (nicer word for creeping). I work largely by watching hard for the meaningful, and it's my job to make sure you're comfortable enough to let that unfold in front of me without interfering with the beauty of the moment. My goal is to create an extremely natural+fun atmosphere where you can just be yourselves, and forget that you're even having your photo taken, because that's where the freaking magic is. While I definitely get some traditional shots (grandma's going to want those for her mantle and that's important too), my main focus will always be on the in-betweens and the candid. When I am giving direction, it’s going to be casual and fun…we’re going to chat a lot about anything and everything, I’ll give pretty basic direction cues, and we’ll go from there. My best work comes when the people who invite me in trust me enough to let themselves just be.

2. I want to know you, for real.

The thing that I love most about being a photographer is getting to know you, your lives, your personalities, how you interact with one another; and through that, knowing how best to serve you. It's a huge, huge part of how I enter a wedding day. Your wedding photographer will be with you more than anyone else, honestly, and I think you should be able to trust+like them a heck of a lot. So let’s be friends! Let’s talk about your personalities and likes/dislikes and what tv show you’re really into right now and how you want your wedding day to feel. I never book a wedding without meeting the couple first (because there's no better way to know if we're a great fit....also coffee is involved).

3. I'm invested.

Friend, I’ve got.your.back. I work hard to make sure that you feel prepared and confident going into your wedding day, whether it's by being available for any/all questions, helping you pick which dress you look flyest in, or giving you tips on putting together the timeline. I’m the extra bridesmaid you didn’t know you needed and I want to help make this experience as stress free and wonderful as possible for you. So that you can focus on just being in the moment and enjoying this once in a lifetime thing. This isn't a "one day of work and then done" kind of job for me, and I take the entire process so seriously. I’m here for you and I’m excited about it!!

I love your style but you’re not local - are you willing to travel?

HECK. YES. Traveling is my favorite thing ever and I’m always down to come to you, wherever that is. I photograph weddings out of my home state (Indiana) all the time, and even out of the country. Let’s do this.

How much do you charge for travel?

Since I love to travel so much, I try to keep my fees super reasonable. Any travel within 100 miles is on me. You’ll pay me 50 cents a mile round trip for fuel reimbursement, if you’re over 100 miles from me . 350 miles away, and beyond, is based on flight+car rental prices (don’t worry, my hobby and possibly greatest talent is finding the best travel deals). Accomodation for the night before and the night after your wedding is also required for out of town weddings.

Do you work with a second photographer?

Yes, sometimes. Adding an additional photographer to your day is always an option, and depending on what your wedding looks like, I sometimes recommend it. Adding another photographer will give you more photos, more options, and maybe the most important - more timeline flexibility. I work with a select group of local photographer friends who have the same vision for wedding days that I do.

What happens if you’re not able to make it to my wedding?

I’ve been a part of close to 100 weddings at this point and I’ve never missed or been late to one, it would take an extreme emergency or illness to keep me from yours. But I’m human, and crap happens, so I always have a list of people I can call in for backup. The same group of people that I mentioned up there ^, and I fully trust them to capture your day in my place.

How many photos do we get?

It definitely depends on what your day looks like, how many people you have in your bridal party (if any), and how long it is. But on average you can expect to receive 700-900 edited images in your online gallery.

Do you offer any other kind of sessions?

YES. I love to create things beyond wedding days, and I’m so down to capture your family in a documentary+lifestyle way (check out the family portfolio page). Honestly I’m really excited to photograph anything in a documentary style, whether that’s just you living your everyday life, or a branding session, or your grandparents picking peaches in their backyard - let’s chat.
